Holocaust. Some of us
survived, and it is our
sacred duty to keep the
memory of those victims
alive. But with each passing
year there are fewer of us
still living, and with time, if
not guarded, that memory
may fade into oblivion. As
the philosopher George
Santayana famously
said, ‘Those who cannot
remember the past are
condemned to repeat it.’
That must never happen.
That’s why my wife and I
consider it our obligation
to those murdered to
support the Museum,
the enduring guardian
of their memory.”
Jews were safe and
accepted. Today, the
world is frightening, and
hatred is widespread. An
endowment to the United
States Holocaust Memorial
Museum is how we can
help to ensure a safer
future for our children
and grandchildren. The
world must never forget
what happened to the Jews
less than 100 years ago
and what has happened
to others since then. The
Museum must be a beacon
of light to remind the world
of its inhumanity and must
educate future generations
so that the Holocaust will
never be repeated.”
