Including the United
States Holocaust Memorial
Museum in my will was a
way for me to perpetuate the
legacy of my father, a World War
II veteran, and his generation.
The Holocaust was an important
chapter in 20th-century American
history, and the Museum stands as
a permanent, physical memorial—a
place of living memory that will
continue to exist far beyond the
lifespan of those who witnessed
and experienced the horrors of the
Holocaust. My father witnessed;
I remember; my children learn—
but generations to come will
understand the lessons of the
Holocaust because the Museum
actively teaches about this dark
time in human history. As we lose
the physical presence of survivors
and rescuers, the Museum preserves
their voices, images, and stories.”
